
Harshika Poonacha, an accomplished Indian actress, has made a significant mark in the Kannada film industry and has ventured into other regional cinemas as well. Born on May 1, 1990, in Ammathi, Kodagu district of Karnataka, she is the only daughter of Uddappanda Poonacha and Shambhavi.
Her foray into the world of acting began at the young age of 15 when she appeared in the 2008 Kannada film "PUC" while still pursuing her 12th standard education at Christ Junior College, Bangalore. Despite initially envisioning a career outside of acting, her debut marked the commencement of a successful journey in the film industry.
Harshika continued her academic pursuits at the Cambridge Institute of Technology in Bangalore, earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical. Despite her educational commitments, she actively participated in the entertainment industry, working as a television anchor and hosting shows such as "Nimmindha Nimagaagi," "Hrudayadinda," and "Sarigamapa."
Her career gained momentum with notable films, including "Jackie" (2010) alongside Puneeth Rajkumar, "Thamassu" (2010) for which she won the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Supporting Actress, and "Nariya Seere Kadha" (2010) where she portrayed the character of Ramya. Harshika's versatility is evident in her filmography, with roles in various genres ranging from comedy to action.
She expanded her reach beyond Kannada cinema, signing her first Tamil film, "Anandha Thollai," and a Telugu film titled "Panipuri." In 2021, she made her Bhojpuri debut in the film "Hum Hai Raahi Pyar Ke" with Pawan Singh.
Apart from her acting career, Harshika, along with her cousin Bhuvaan Ponannaa, owns a company called Glamgod Fashion and Events, where they organize fashion shows and events. In 2023, she tied the knot with actor Bhuvann Ponnannaa.
