Avantika Shetty is an accomplished Indian actress and advertiser who has made a significant mark in Kannada cinema. Born in August 1986 in Mangaluru, Karnataka, she belongs to the Tulu-speaking Tuluva Bunt community. Avantika's career spans over a decade, during which she has showcased her versatility across various media, including television, films, and short films.
She made her big-screen debut in the Kannada film industry with the 2015 thriller-drama RangiTaranga, directed by debutant Anup Bhandari. In this film, Avantika played the role of Sandhya Bhargav, a journalist on a quest to uncover the identity of a mysterious writer. The movie was a sleeper hit that turned into a blockbuster, largely due to positive word-of-mouth reviews. RangiTaranga went on to become one of the highest-grossing films in Kannada cinema, and Avantika's performance earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress – Kannada.
Following the success of RangiTaranga, Avantika signed on for Kalpana 2 (2016), a horror-comedy directed by R. Anantharaju. In this film, she played the role of Nandini, a character originally portrayed by Taapsee Pannu in the Tamil version Kanchana 2.
