Tanishaa Mukerji, born on March 3, 1978, in Mumbai, India, hails from the esteemed Mukherjee-Samarth family, being the daughter of filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee and veteran actress Tanuja. She is the younger sister of the renowned Bollywood actress Kajol.
Her Bollywood journey commenced in 2003 with the thriller slasher "Sssshhh..." which, unfortunately, did not garner favorable reviews. Subsequently, her films like "Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao" and "Neal 'n' Nikki" received mixed to negative responses from critics and were commercial failures. However, in 2005, she gained attention for her role in the political crime thriller "Sarkar," which was both critically acclaimed and a commercial success.
While some of her films faced box office disappointments, Tanishaa made her Tamil debut with "Unnale Unnale" in 2007, which was appreciated for its storyline and performances. She further appeared in "One Two Three" and reprised her role in "Sarkar Raj" in 2008, the latter being a critical and commercial success.
In 2013, Tanishaa ventured into television by participating in the reality show "Bigg Boss 7," where she secured the position of the 1st runner-up, gaining substantial recognition. She later served as a judge on the comedy show "Gangs of Haseepur" and participated in "Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 7" in 2016, reaching the finals.
